Promoted to Sergeant Major After Successful Rebuttal

A Master Sergeant received a Memorandum of Reprimand and contacted Stockdale Army Law. Because of redeployment activities, the Master Sergeant was unable to submit a rebuttal and requested an extension of time. The reprimanding official denied his request. Stockdale and the Master Sergeant nevertheless developed a rebuttal, in advance of the OMPF filing determination by a General Officer. Getting the rebuttal into the right hands required creativity, and a keen sense of "political considerations." The strategy succeeded. The reprimand did not go into the Soldier's OMPF. In June 2011, he was promoted to Sergeant Major.
